For eco-friendly schoolchildren

Thousands of students from across the province took part in the Consignaction Tour this fall: a school activity featuring workshops and games promoting physical activity, healthy eating, cultural diversity and the environment.

As part of this last component, young people are made aware of the benefits of recycling refundable/returnable containers. In particular, they learn to recognize containers that are currently under deposit-refund and the ecological reasons why it is important to return them to drop-off point.

"Young people have fun while integrating strong environmental values. We find that the majority don't know that the containers they bring back are 100% recycled," explains Sophie Boissonneault, Communications Manager. "The beauty of it is that they bring home the fruit of their teaching and raise awareness among other family members."

An estimated 400,000 schoolchildren have taken part in the Consignaction Tour since its inception in 2010.
