Over the years, Earth Day has become the world's largest participatory environmental movement. In Quebec, it has been celebrated since 1995. For the occasion, all kinds of awareness-raising activities are organized to encourage people to take individual action, such as using bicycles or public transport whenever possible, recycling carefully, consuming in the best way possible, etc., so as to leave as small a footprint as possible.
